Do I need to ask for a connection to the grid?

If you have moved house, check first whether you are already connected to the gas grid, i.e. whether the place already has the connection elements (branches, space for the meter). If you are already connected to the grid, see the information on Contracting / Switching supplier.

Who do I ask to for a grid connection?

If you do not have a grid connection, contact the distribution system operator and ask for a quote for the connection.

The quote must be in accordance with the rules laid down by ERSE.

But first, your home’s natural gas installation must be prepared (certified and inspected) to receive natural gas. Check the website of the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG).

Who makes the connection?

It is the responsibility of the distribution system operator to construct the elements necessary for the connection to the system of premises expected to consume up to
10 000 m³ of natural gas per year.

What are the connection costs?

The connection costs to the natural gas grid for installations with a foreseeable annual consumption of up to 10 000 m³ are those incurred in:

• The distribution branch (to ensure the exclusive connection of the natural gas installation)
• The grid to be built (to connect the existing grid to the distribution branches)

What is the Universal Installation Code (UIC/CUI)?

It is a unique code that identifies the natural gas installation in your home. It consists of 20 digits and must begin with “PT”. The CUI is assigned by the distribution system operator and is included in your contract and natural gas invoice. The CUI is always the same, regardless of your supplier.
