ERSE submits to public consultation the draft revised version of the Manual of Procedures of the Issuing Body for Guarantees of Origin (EEGO)

13/12/2022

ERSE - the Energy Services Regulatory Authority - has submitted to public consultation the draft revised version of the Manual of Procedures of the Issuing Body for Guarantees of Origin (Entidade Emissora de Garantias de Origem - EEGO).

Since its approval and publication, the legal framework of the current Manual of Procedures has undergone significant amendments, namely the extension of EEGO’s activities to the issuance of Guarantees of Origin for the production of gases of renewable origin and low carbon gases.

In addition, both the experience of the operationalisation of EEGO’s activity and the need for integration with the electricity labelling rules published by ERSE and with the schemes of the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB), as well as the legal, regulatory and normative amendments that have occurred since its drafting and approval, justify the current review process of the EEGO’s Manual of Procedures.

This review is required due to the amendment to the regulatory framework of the electricity and natural gas sector, which provides that ERSE is responsible for approving the EEGO’s manual of procedures, upon a proposal from this Regulatory Authority, but also due to other legislative developments that have an impact on the matters covered by the Manual of Procedures.
