19/05/2025

ERSE – the Energy Services Regulatory Authority, represented by its president, Pedro Verdelho, signed two memoranda of understanding on 15 May 2025 with its counterpart entities in Algeria: the Autorité de Régulation de l'Hydrocarbure (ARH) and the Commission de Régulation de l'Électricité et du Gaz (CREG). The ceremony was attended by the Algerian Ambassador to Lisbon, Saïd Moussi, who recently took up his post in Lisbon.

The ceremony aimed to reaffirm the commitment to bilateral cooperation between the institutions, under the auspices of regional collaboration promoted by MEDREG – the Association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators, which was represented at the event. MEDREG's presence underlined the importance of sharing experiences and best practices among regulators in the region.

The signing of these memoranda strengthens the ties between Portugal and Algeria in the field of energy regulation and contributes to the transparency, efficiency and stability of energy markets in the Mediterranean area.

Their respective presidents, Rachid Nadil (ARH) and Wassila Atimene (CREG), represented the Algerian entities.

These agreements reflect ERSE's ongoing commitment to deepening international cooperation, promoting energy regulation based on principles of independence, transparency and consumer focus.
