ERSE publishes the Gas Sector Technical Quality of Service Report - 2021

10/10/2022

ERSE - the Energy Services Regulatory Authority,  has published the gas sector Technical Quality of Service Report (RQST) for 2021, which highlights the good performance of companies in meeting the technical quality of service indicators.

In compliance with the Quality of Service Regulation for the electricity and gas sectors, ERSE publishes, on an annual basis, the characterisation and overall assessment of the quality of service in the gas sector, analysing areas such as continuity of service, supply pressure and gas characterisation. This list also includes an assessment of the quality perceived by customers and the performance of the various infrastructure operators, namely the transmission network, the distribution networks and the liquefied natural gas terminal.

In 2021, it should be noted that there were no interruptions in the gas transmission network, as was the case in the previous year.

As far as the gas distribution network is concerned, it was found that operators complied with the general standards associated with the various indicators, with the exception of Lisboagás, which failed to meet the standard set for the average number of expected controllable interruptions (other situations). Lisboagás justified this non-compliance on account of the requalification of municipal buildings by the Lisbon City Council, regular gas leak detection campaigns in the municipalities of Lisbon and Amadora and the improvement of gas pressure in its distribution grid.

In order to promote the knowledge and the active participation of society in the regulation of the energy sector and to widen access to the information produced by ERSE, a booklet - ERSExplica - summarising some of the main indicators of the technical quality of service has been published together with the report.
