ERSE promotes ConvERSE on the topic “Biofuels on the path to energy transition’

ERSE – Energy Services Regulatory Authority will hold a ConvERSE initiative on March 3, 2026, focusing on the theme of “Biofuels on the road to energy transition”.The event will take place in the ERSE Auditorium, in Lisbon, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with the option to attend in person or online.
This seminar aims to promote a broad debate on the role of biofuels in the context of the energy transition, addressing technological, market, and regulatory challenges, with the participation of national and international experts.
The programme includes a presentation of the book “Biofuels: from production processes to the market”, authored by Instituto Superior Técnico and ERSE. There will also be a first roundtable dedicated to innovation, where the main technological developments and prospects for the sector will be discussed.
The session will continue with a presentation by Argus Media on the dynamics of global biofuel markets and the main trends. This will be followed by a second roundtable discussion on the challenges associated with the functioning of the biofuel market in Portugal, featuring perspectives from associations representing the sector and entities involved in this area.
A presentation on RenovaBIO will also be given, as part of Brazil's National Biofuel Policy. It will provide an international perspective on pioneering public policy instruments for promoting biofuels.
