ERSE promoted the appointment of representatives of the Autonomous Region of the Azores to the Advisory and Tariff Boards

Pedro Verdelho, the Chairman of ERSE – the Energy Services Regulatory Authority -, attended the meeting held on 26 September 2022 to appoint the representatives of the electricity system companies and the consumer representatives of the Autonomous Region of the Azores to ERSE’s Advisory Council and Tariff Council.

New representatives of electricity system companies:

Advisory Council

  • Francisco Manuel Sousa Botelho- EDA- Electricidade dos Açores S. A. (full member)
  • Fernando José Melo Henriques-EDA- Electricidade dos Açores S. A. (alternate member) 

Tariff Council

  • Fernando Manuel Rodrigues Ferreira- EDA- Electricidade dos Açores S. A. (full member)
  • Luis Miguel Tavares Plácido- EDA- Electricidade dos Açores S. A. (alternate member)

New consumer representatives: 

Advisory Council

  • José António Resendes- Câmara de Comércio e Indústria dos Açores/Câmara de Comércio e Indústria de Ponta Delgada (full member)

Tariff Council

  • Mário Agostinho Reis- ACRA- Associação dos Consumidores da Região dos Açores (full member)
  • Jaime Lima Araújo Pacheco- ACRA- Associação dos Consumidores da Região dos Açores (alternate member)

The Advisory Council provides a forum for consultation on the definition of the broad lines of ERSE’s activities and the deliberations of the Board of Directors. It is the task of the Advisory Council to give (non-binding) opinions on the matters provided for in article 43 of ERSE’s Statutes, to make recommendations and to promote work of interest to the regulated sectors.

The Tariff Council is also a specific consultation forum, focusing however on ERSE’s tasks related to tariffs and prices. The Tariff Council is responsible for giving (non-binding) opinions on the approval and review of tariff regulations and the setting of tariffs and prices.

Members of both councils are appointed for a renewable term of three years.
