ERSE imposed fines of 55 thousand euros in the second quarter and opened two administrative offence proceedings

In the 2nd quarter of 2025, ERSE – Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos (Energy Services Regulatory Authority) imposed fines totalling around 55,000 euros as a result of the conclusion of nine administrative offence proceedings and the voluntary payment of fines in another ten cases.
Of the cases decided by ERSE in this quarter, the most noteworthy were the convictions of companies operating petrol stations for failing to send the original complaint sheets to the competent authority within the legally stipulated time limit, as determined by Decree-Law 156/2005 of 15 September.
ERSE is responsible for monitoring compliance with the provisions of the aforementioned law, as well as investigating the respective administrative offence proceedings and imposing fines and ancillary sanctions.
During the 2nd quarter, two administrative offence proceedings were also opened, the evidence of which was the result of complaints from external entities.
