ERSE marks World Energy Day with “Let’s Simulate Together” at the GNR’s Guarda School
03/06/2026
ERSE – the Energy Services Regulatory Authority – marked World Energy Day, which took place on 29 May 2026, with another “Let’s Simulate With You” event at the National Republican Guard (GNR) Training School in Queluz.
This initiative, carried out under the Cooperation Protocol between ERSE and the GNR, resulted in an average saving of 18 per cent – or €11.54 per month – for the military personnel who carried out simulations for their electricity and natural gas bills. In the overwhelming majority of the simulations carried out (95 per cent of the total), switching energy suppliers resulted in savings on the bill.
The “Let’s Simulate With You” initiative was launched last year by ERSE to mark World Consumer Rights Day, and has already enabled 645 simulations to be carried out in companies and organisations across the country, with average savings of 20 per cent on bills.
This initiative aims to empower consumers to use ERSE’s energy price simulator, encouraging them to seek out the best deals for electricity or natural gas supply. It also provides an opportunity to clarify various queries raised by consumers.
The “Let’s Simulate With You" is provided by ERSE, preferably at workplaces with a large number of employees, and by prior appointment arranged by company managers. Registrations can be made here.
There are currently numerous offers from various suppliers on the market. ERSE advises consumers to use the energy price simulator available on its website at least twice a year; an explanatory video is also provided for this tool.
ERSE’s energy price simulator compares all commercial electricity and natural gas offers for domestic consumers of electricity (Standard Low Voltage) and natural gas (Low Pressure) in mainland Portugal, and is an essential tool for consumers wishing to switch suppliers to make an informed choice.
In 2025, ERSE’s energy price simulator recorded over 1.2 million simulations carried out by around 525,000 users.
As the energy sector regulator, ERSE is responsible for protecting consumer rights and promoting energy literacy; in this context, it organises various information and training initiatives for consumers each year, whilst also providing a wide range of educational and informative materials through which it aims to continue contributing to greater empowerment of energy consumers, with a view to fostering their active and informed participation in the market and safeguarding their rights.
