ERSE is holding a ConvERSE event on updating time periods in the electricity sector in mainland Portugal

08/01/2026

On the morning of 16 January 2026, ERSE - the Energy Services Regulatory Authority - will hold a ConvERSE session on updating the 'Time Periods in the Electricity Sector in Mainland Portugal', which will be available to attend in person or online.

Following the launch of public consultation no. 137 on the proposal to update electricity time periods, for which the deadline for receiving contributions is 23 January 2026,  ERSE is promoting a public discussion of different perspectives, including those of consumers, network operators and suppliers. ERSE believes that their active participation is essential for ensuring a balanced and productive debate.

The proposed amendment aims to adapt the time periods to changing patterns of electricity consumption and production, promoting more efficient use of the networks and a better match between the time periods and the actual usage profile of the electricity system. This update is expected to come into force in 2027.

The first panel at the ConvERSE event will explore the perspectives of domestic and large consumers on their response to time-period signals, as well as the view of network operators on how the new time periods influence network management and planning.

The second panel will focus on the perspective of suppliers who have close contact with customers. The aim is to understand how they can help customers to understand and adhere to the new time periods.

The hybrid event will take place between 09:30 and 12:45.

Registration for in-person participation is limited to the room's capacity and will close once full.

Participants will receive the link for the online broadcast after registering for the event.
