ERSE hosts ConvERSE on Energy Storage

16/04/2026

ERSE – the Energy Services Regulatory Authority – will host a ConvERSE event on April 27, 2026, focusing on the theme “Energy Storage: Batteries and Thermal Energy Storage.” The event will take place in the ERSE Auditorium in Lisbon from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in both in-person and online formats.

This seminar aims to foster a broad discussion on the role of energy storage in the context of the energy transition, addressing the main available technologies, their integration models within the electricity system, and the associated economic and regulatory challenges.

Energy storage plays a central role in the energy transition, being crucial for the growing integration of renewable energy, for the efficiency of energy systems, and for the electrification of society, including the decarbonization of key sectors such as “hard-to-abate” industries.

Energy storage is often the “missing link” in the energy transition, and is essential for this imperative to be realized in the most efficient manner. It is therefore crucial to maintain a dialogue on this topic and, for ERSE in particular, to foster forums that allow for aligning the regulatory vision with innovation and the prospect of greater integration of new forms of energy storage.

Batteries and thermal energy storage offer ways to enhance the flexibility, stability, and resilience of energy systems.

Registration for in-person attendance at the event is limited to room capacity.

Participants in the online session will receive the link to access the live stream in due course.
