ERSE, as the Portuguese Energy Regulatory Authority, is member of the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) and of the European Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER).
CEER is a Belgian not-for-profit association set up by the regulators themselves and was established in 2000 for the cooperation of the independent energy regulators of Europe. Portugal was a founding member and chaired it until 2005.
ACER is a formal EU Agency established by the Regulation (EC) No. 713/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July of 2009 and was fully operational from March 2011 onwards.
