  • Tariff Board 


    The Tariff Board is a specific advisory body that advises ERSE on tariff and pricing-related matters. It is responsible for issuing opinions on the approval and revision of tariff regulations as well as the definition of tariffs and pricing.

    Each section of tariff board meets ordinarily once a year, by convene of the president. 
    Extraordinarily, tariff board sections meets by convene of the president, by their initiative, by request of at least a third of their members or by convene of the president of Administration board of ERSE.


    The Tariff Board has two sections: one for the electricity sector and one for the natural gas sector.

    The electricity section is composed by the representatives indicated in a), b), c), d), e), f), g), h), i),j),l),x) and z)  below . The natural gas section is composed by the representatives indicated in a), b), c) d), m), n), o), p), q), r), s) and t) below.

    The Tariff Board is composed as follows:

    a)  A personality of recognized merit and independence to be appointed by the Government member responsible for energy, who chairs (Chairman of the Tariff Board);

    b) One representative of the National Association of Municipalities;

    c) One representative of the General Directorate of Consumer;

    d) Three representatives of consumer protection associations that represent consumers in general, pursuant to Law nº. 24/96 of 31 July, amended by Law nº 85/98 of 16 December and by Decree Law nº 67/2003 of 8 April;

    e) One representative of the associations that have associates as consumers of electricity at medium voltage (MV), high voltage (HV) and very high voltage (EHV);

    f) Representative coopted of the associations that have associates as consumers of electricity at medium voltage (MV), high voltage (HV) and very high voltage (EHV) and the representatives of consumer protection associations that represent consumers in general ;

    g) One representative of the concession holder of the National Electricity Transmission Grid.

    h) One representative of the concession holder of the National Electricity Distribution Grid.

    i) One representative of the concession holders of electricity distribution in low voltage (LV).

    j) One representative of last resort supplier of electricity which, in these roles, acting throughout the continent.

    l) One representative of suppliers of electricity in free regime.

    m) One representative of the concession holder of the National Natural Gas Transmission Grid.

    n) One representative of the concession holders of the activities of reception, storage and re-gasification of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

    o) One representative of the entities holding concessions for the regional natural gas distribution networks.

    p) One representative of the holders of public service natural gas distribution licenses.

    q) One representative of last resort retail supplier of natural gas.

    r) One representative of last resort wholesale supplier of natural gas.

    s) One representative of suppliers of natural gas in free regime.

    t) One representative of the associations that have associates as natural gas customers with annual consumption exceeding 10 000 m3.

    u) One representative of consumers of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
    v) One representative of consumers of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
    x) One representative of the electricity system companies of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
    z) One representative of the electricity system companies of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
