    ERSE collects and processes personal data required for the availability and operation of its sites and services.
    The user will always be informed on the need to access personal data to use this functionality.

    Data collected and processed in this context are intended for the provision of those services the user wishes to access and for statistical purposes.

    The entity in charge of processing personal data is Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos (ERSE).

    Without prejudice of legal provisions and regulations to the contrary, data shall be stored only for the minimum period required for the purpose which has led to its collection and processing

    ERSE uses cookies in its sites in order to improve the performance and browsing experience of users, increasing on the one hand speed and responsiveness and eliminating on the other hand the need to introduce the same information over and over again.

    Placement of cookies helps sites recognise the user device next time someone visit the site and is indispensable for its operation. Cookies used by ERSE do not collect personal information    allowing the user to be identified and store only generic information. Cookies retain only information related to the users’ preferences.

    The user may, at any time and through the internet browser, decide if he wishes to be notified on the reception of cookies or if he wishes to block access to his system. We draw your attention to the fact that refusal as to the use of cookies may prevent access to some website areas. ERSE uses different types of cookies for the following purposes:

     (i) Functional cookies – functional cookies remember the user preferences when he browses a website thereby reducing the need to reconfigure and personalise it each time you visit the website.
    (ii) Analytical cookies – These cookies are used to analyse the manner how users use websites thereby making possible to highlight articles that may interest users and to monitor the sites’ performance, informing on the most popular pages, on the most efficient connection method between pages and why some pages receive error messages. These cookies are used only for statistical purposes and never collect personal information.

    As to its variety there are two types of cookies:
    (i) Persistent cookies – cookies that are stored in the access devices (computer, mobile phone, smartphone or tablet), e.g. in the internet browser and that are used whenever the User visits a site again.
    (ii) Session cookies – temporary cookies which are generated and are available until the end of the session. Next time the User accesses his internet browser cookies will already be stored there. The information gathered allows session management, problem identification and offers a better browsing experience. Users may activate part or all cookies at any time. If cookies are deactivated the site may not work properly.

    ERSE may also use cookies when you open newsletters/emails for statistical purposes and to inform whether they were opened and to check the number of clicks in links or ads contained in the newsletter. The User has always the possibility to deactivate newsletter sending clicking on the relevant option contained in the footer.

    ERSE ensures adequate levels of security and protection of Users’ personal data. To this end, a number of technical and organisational security measures were adopted to protect personal data against unauthorised disclosure, loss, misuse, alteration, processing or access and to prevent any forms of unlawful processing.
    Should ERSE subcontract services to third parties that may have access to Users’ personal data, its subcontracted are obliged to adopt the organisation security protocols and technical measures to protect confidentiality and security of personal data and to prevent unauthorised access, loss and/or destruction of personal data.

    The current rules of the Privacy Policy and Cookies complement the provisions regarding personal data. The availability of personal data by the respective holder implies the knowledge and acceptance of the conditions contained in the current the Privacy Policy and Cookies, hence, when making his personal data available the user thereby authorises collection, use and disclosure of these data in accordance with the rules set down in the applicable collection tool.

    ERSE reserves the right to, at any time, make adjustments or amendments to this Privacy Policy and Cookies and so therefore the User should consult it from time to time.
