ERSE/GNR protocol: ERSE on site to answer questions from local businesses
19/12/2023
On 15 December, as part of the “Comercio Seguro 2023” (Safe Trade 2023) operation promoted by the National Republican Guard, ERSE - the Energy Services Regulatory Authority - took part in an awareness and information campaign for local shopkeepers and customers in Mafra.
The awareness-raising campaign was organised by the Crime Prevention and Community Policing Department of the Mafra Territorial Unit, as part of the Cooperation Protocol concluded between ERSE and GNR.
The aim of the initiative was to raise awareness and answer questions from local businesses and their customers about energy supply contracting, consumer rights, energy efficiency measures and how to prevent possible crimes or scams in this area.
The action took place in the town of Mafra, where about 15 commercial establishments were visited, information leaflets were distributed and questions were answered. This proximity also allows ERSE to gather information on the issues that most concern consumers, which is very relevant for regulatory activities.
The GNR’s “Comércio Seguro 2023” (Safe Trade 2023) operation has been running since 24 November and will continue throughout mainland Portugal until the end of the year. The cooperation protocol between ERSE and GNR was signed in 2021 and aims to develop joint actions and initiatives to combat energy illiteracy and to identify abusive or unfair practices by energy market operators towards consumers, especially the most vulnerable.
