ERSE publishes for public consultation a proposal for the distribution of the financing of the costs of the social tariff in 2024
23/01/2024
ERSE - the Energy Services Regulatory Authority is holding from today a public consultation on a proposal for the distribution of the financing of the costs of the Social Tariff in 2024, in accordance with Decree-Law No 15/2022 of 14 January, as amended by Decree-Law No 104/2023 of 17 November.
This Decree-Law introduces a number of amendments to the model for financing the cost of the Social Tariff for electricity, in particular by extending its financing beyond producers to suppliers and market players in the consumption function[1].
ERSE publishes for Public Consultation (i) its Proposal for the distribution of the financing of the costs of the social tariff for the period from 18 November to 31 December 2023 and for the year 2024; and (ii) its proposal for the procedures for operationalising the financing of the costs of the social tariff necessary to determine the final amounts to be financed by each player.
It should be noted that the distribution of the financing of the Social Tariff costs for the period from 1 January to 17 November 2023, i.e. the period prior to the entry into force of Decree-Law No 104/2023 and with implications for 2024, was already published in Directive No 1/2024 of 9 January.
In the future, the annual distribution of the financing of the costs of the social tariff will be published by means of a specific Directive, coordinated with the Directive on the procedures for operationalising the financing of the costs of the social tariff, which is in force without a defined time limit.
The public consultation is open until 22 February 2024.
