ERSE approves two new pilot energy community projects
14/12/2022
In the scope of the self-consumption and renewable energy community projects provided for in the Self-Consumption Regulation, ERSE - the Energy Services Regulatory Authority - has granted “Sonae Campus”, in Maia, and “POCITYF”, in Évora, the classification of pilot projects.
These two new projects, sponsored by Capwatt Services, S.A., and EDP New, respectively, join “Renewable Energy Community - Agra do Amial” project in Oporto, which was approved in 2021.
The three projects present different community formats, covering residential, commercial and industrial areas, and propose to develop sharing methods based on dynamic coefficients. The projects also include features such as energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, circular economy and citizen engagement.
These projects have also become part of the pilot project developed by E-Redes to test energy sharing rules for self-consumption, supplementing those currently defined in the Self-Consumption Regulation, based on hierarchical algorithms and a dynamic setting of energy sharing.
The approved pilot projects are committed to sharing the results of the practical experience of their implementation, thus helping to accelerate the development of collective self-consumption and energy communities.
The approval of the pilot project classification by ERSE, under the Self-Consumption Regulation, is without prejudice to the necessary licensing procedure with the Directorate-General of Energy and Geology.
More detailed information can be found in the list of approved pilot projects.
